About The Position

The Mental Health Technician is an incredible opportunity to expand your role in health care through functioning as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment team. This role is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for psychiatric patients while assisting with the provision of basic patient care and recovery needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or any other human services field preferred and/or in lieu of education, will take 1 year of experience.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor; apply within 30 days and have from DOH within 90 days.
  • Must obtain a Nursing Assistant Registered or CNA prior to start date.
  • If assigned to Navos Hospital, BLS certification is required prior to starting.
  • Other campuses require CPR certification prior to starting on the floor and can be obtained onsite, if not already in hand.
  • If assigned to Navos Hospital, First Aid training is required prior to starting.
  • If assigned to Navos Hospital, Food Handler's Card is required within first two weeks of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Support the unit through excellent patient customer service and clinic management assistance.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, front office staff, and clinic management to ensure comprehensive health care outcomes.
  • Perform a variety of functions within the clinic setting requiring specialized knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data.
  • Advocate for ethical and holistic care promoting the autonomy, dignity, and health of patients from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds.
  • Assist with maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting patient room searches, reporting unsafe conditions, and applying appropriate emotional and physical support.
  • Provide and document interventions in a variety of modalities individually matched to the needs of each patient.
