About The Position

Inova Fairfax Hospital Nursing Float Pool is looking for a dedicated Mental
Health Technician 2 to join the team. This role will be Full-time Day or Night
Shift: (3 x 12-hour shifts, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm or 6:00 pm to 6:00 am) with
rotating weekends.

Mental Health Technician 2 Job Responsibilities:

Assists unit leadership with oversight of the unit's Mental Health Technician
education needs/compliance.

Provides individualized patient support for activities of daily living
including bathing, feeding, bed making and measurement of vital signs and
intake/output.

Provides information to patients, families and visitors which may include
orients patients to the unit/program, explains rationale for rules or
restrictions and provides printed information.

Serves as a resource and unit preceptor for all new Mental Health
Technicians. Works with the unit leadership to ensure Mental Health
Technicians have current competencies and skills to perform their work.

Requirements

• Education: High School or GED
• Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Mental Health Technician 1 or Clinical Technician 1 at Inova Health System and/or two (2) years as psychiatric technician at another facility.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association- upon start
