About The Position

The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. We provide high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances. We are deeply committed to our clients and are dedicated to implementing a comprehensive model of care. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking a Mental Health Technician. The Mental Health Tech will work collaboratively with a team to provide care to clients on an outpatient and inpatient basis. They will assist in the general monitoring and care of the clients, as well as daily operations and housekeeping of the unit. They will act as a liaison in providing information to internal as well as external parties and agencies. This is 24/7 operation, and all shifts are currently available for PRN scheduling.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age, and have an Associate of Arts / Science degree, or two years of equivalent education and or experience working in the human services field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1-1 supportive care based on client’s needs, including hygiene, nutrition, and medication, maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Act as a resource to client for activities to facilitate increased stability in functioning.
  • Initiate de-escalation procedures when appropriate, consistent with MANDT and Mental Health First Aid procedures.
  • Provide accurate and relevant feedback to providers, to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Participate in daily treatment team meetings.
  • Maintain unit through regular housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain effective and cooperative working relationship with TGC staff as well as referral sources and community partners through accurate, timely, and professional communication.
  • Adapt to changing work priorities and a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Participate in training as directed by the immediate supervisor or TGC management staff.
  • Meet HIPAA standards for confidentiality of medical records.
  • Comply with TGC’s Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct relating to the Corporate Compliance Policy.
  • The employee understands that he/she has a duty and obligation to report any suspected violations of the Corporate Compliance Policy to the Corporate Compliance Officer or the Chief Executive Officer.
