About The Position

Mental Health Technicians are responsible for direct patient care. Provides for psychosocial needs of patients. Performs various non-nursing functions. Accountable for creating an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the organizations mission, vision and values. Position Description: Performs data collection accurately and promptly. Recognizes variances in patient condition and reports promptly. Follows the plan of care and recommends changes to meet the ongoing needs of the patient. Provide care that is related to the patient's needs and well-being. Participates in shift report, as a member of the team, to meet the individual needs of the patient. Completes all work assignments under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse. Reports abnormal data findings promptly. Implements the interventions from the plan of care, as assigned. Documents data collection, tasks performed and patient response accurately and appropriately each shift. Accurately and appropriately demonstrates restraint use and Handle with Care techniques.

Requirements

  • Education requirements: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Work experience requirements: Prefer one (1) year full time or three (3) years part time in an acute care setting.
  • Required licenses/ certifications/courses: BLS certification. Successful completion of Handle with Care training within 30 days of hire. Maintains a valid SC driver's license for patient transport, where applicable. Must have one of the following requirements:
  • Current SC CNA certification
  • Current Medical Assistant certification
  • Current EMT certification
  • Passing grade in Fundamentals of Nursing course and maintain current enrollment in nursing program
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field
  • Minimum 1 year of MHT or behavioral health tech experience

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer one (1) year full time or three (3) years part time in an acute care setting.
