About The Position

Gulfport Behavioral Health System (a UHS facility): Gulfport Behavioral Health System, is a 90-bed psychiatric hospital offering child, adolescent, adult and military service behavioral health programs and treatment services. For more information, please visit us at www.gulfportbehavioral.com/ Position Summary: Join a team where the PRN Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from children through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. MHT's work under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Mental Health Tech shifts are 8 hour shifts 7a-3p, 3p-11 pm, or 11p-7a.

Requirements

• High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
• Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline desirable.
• One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.
• Successful achievement of pre-employment online assessment.
• Successful completion of CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
• Certifications may be obtain during new hire orientation.
• May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Nice To Haves
