About The Position

McDowell Center for Children is seeking a dynamic and talented MENTAL HEALTH TECH. The Mental Health Tech creates a safe environment for residents, saves lives when necessary, provides hope, empowers residents, and teaches new tools for coping to residents. The Mental Health Aide provides direct resident care under the supervision of a Shift Supervisor. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, education groups and activities of daily living.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One-year experience working with a psychiatric resident population preferred.
• Available to work any shift.
• Must complete and maintain competency training in CPR, HWC and Verbal De-Escalation - aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training.
• Training may be obtained during first week of employment during new hire orientation.
• MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE.

• Prefer candidates who possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors.
