About The Position

Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center is a 149-bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17, located in South Florida. The primary responsibility of a Mental Health Technician (MHT) is to ensure that patients are supervised and safe. The MHT will work full-time night shifts (7 PM - 7:30 AM) under the direction of a Registered Nurse, providing continuous patient care supervision, leading therapeutic groups, conducting rounds, and participating in crisis interventions as needed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of previous experience in a healthcare setting and/or previous behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Must complete and maintain training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
  • Must pass competency exams within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, effectively multi-task, and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent listening, communication, prioritization, and follow-through skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient supervision and safety.
  • Provide milieu management and continuous patient care supervision.
  • Interact and role model to patients.
  • Lead therapeutic MHT patient groups.
  • Conduct Q15 rounds and one-to-one patient supervision.
  • Participate in crisis intervention situations as needed.
  • Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team.
  • Maintain awareness of each patient’s individualized plan of care.
