About The Position

University Behavioral Center of Orlando, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds. The Lead Mental Health Technician (Lead MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from pediatrics through geriatrics. The Lead Mental Health Technician works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Lead MHT is responsible for providing direct patient care, performing duties in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures in collaboration with the Nursing services team and maintaining oversight of all duties as they relate to the job responsibilities. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness required.
  • CPR with AED (CPR/AED) certification must be current, and a copy of your certification must be presented to Human Resources upon hire.
  • Must successfully complete Verbal De-escalation (VDE) training
  • Display leadership, ownership, and dedication to superior quality care.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in group facilitation, program implementation
  • knowledge of psychotherapeutic interventions and psychiatric diagnosis preferred.
  • Show superior group facilitation skills.
