About The Position

The Mental Health Technician II provides direct care and support to patients with emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral conditions under the supervision of licensed clinical staff. The MHT assists in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment and promotes patient engagement in treatment and daily activities. This role is critical in monitoring patient behavior, facilitating group sessions, and supporting overall treatment plans. The Mental Health Technician is responsible for performing supportive, trauma informed care to patients/families. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, completion of routine safety checks and constant attendance per order, adherence to patient-specific treatment plans, crisis intervention, assistance with activities of daily living, appropriate documentation, facilitation of therapeutic group and assistance with programming, collaboration with the treatment team and discharge planning. The MHT demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate, trauma informed care and service for pediatric patients and actively participates in self-appraisal for performance improvement. Education Associates degree in psychology, social worker, or a related field required; Bachelors degree is preferred. CPI or other crisis intervention training preferred or required within 90 days of hire. Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting required Experience working with patients with mental health or substance use disorders is strongly desired Department Specific Job Details: part time, 24 hours night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM 2 (12) hour shifts weekend and holiday rotation eligible for shift differential serving the inpatient Mental Health Unit at the Mathile Center Education Requirements: Associates (Required) Certification/License Requirements: At Dayton Children's, we believe that each moment counts with our patients, families, and with each other. Requirements
