Position Summary Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital Performs general nursing care to patients in a manner that considers safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital’s Behavioral Health/Psych Department provides specialized care for patients across four distinct units: a 24-bed geriatric unit, a 24-bed adult unit, a 19-bed acute male unit, and a 21-bed acute female unit. Each unit is staffed daily by dedicated nurses and Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) who deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges. Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members ofthe healthcare team. Assists with nursing education groups. Completes assignments of AM/PM care, vital signs, phlebotomy, total milieu supervision of patient care: assist members of the nursing team and/or other disciplines; assist with admissions and discharges as assigned. Demonstrates competency in unitspecific tasks and skill as defined by unitspecific competency list. Transports and deliversitems, equipment, and medications(excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs)throughout the facility. May have limited accessto areasstoring medications. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Participates in nursing Performance Improvement (PI) activities as assigned. Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patientrights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. Practices efficient use ofsupplies. Maintains a safe, clean, and organized unit. Receives and processesincoming calls, patient calls and guest requests. Transports and deliversitems and equipment throughout the facility. Demonstratesthe knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patientsserved on his/her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirementsrelative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures.
