About The Position

Join Our Team as a PRN Mental Health Technician! Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? Join our dynamic team at University Health Behavioral Health Residential Housing as a Mental Health Technician and become a vital part of empowering residents to lead fulfilling, independent lives! As a Mental Health Technician on our Group Home Residential team, you'll play a key role in providing compassionate care and support to adult residents with severe and persistent mental illness. Every day will bring meaningful opportunities to connect, teach, and support residents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (No college degree required).
  • Must possess BLS certification or obtain within 120 days of hire; certification must be kept current for continued employment.
  • Must pass Level 1 Medication Aide (LIMA) licensure course and exam within first 90 days of employment and must maintain current certification, through the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS).
  • Must obtain a valid Class E Missouri or Kansas driver’s license and be competent in operating a 15 passenger van within 6 months of employment.
  • Must obey all traffic laws while operating vehicles while on duty.
  • Clearance through the Family Care Registry.
  • Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management or Educators in the established timeline for continued employment.
  • Be available to pick up shifts with two hours' notice more times than not.
  • Pick up a minimum of 24 hours of shifts each month (shifts are 4, 8, and 12 hours).

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for applicants with previous documented experience in patient care, including assistance with ambulation, feeding, and other activities of daily living.
  • Previous mental health experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engage residents in fun activities that help them reconnect to things they enjoy and make them feel good about themselves.
  • Help residents develop essential life skills like cooking and cleaning, how to cope with their symptoms, and problem solving.
  • Lead outings, assist with medication administration (training provided), and create a warm and welcoming environment where residents thrive.
