About The Position

The Community Counselor/Mental Health Tech provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, individual/family education and activities of daily living for mental health patients.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field highly preferred; or high school diploma required.
• One year work experience providing direct patient care.
• Knowledge of direct patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.

• Knowledge of psychiatric group processes.
• Understanding of therapeutic relationships processes.
• Familiarity with age-specific growth and development.
• Experience with limit setting and behavior management.
• Crisis management skills with aggressive behaviors.
• CPR training preferred.
