About The Position

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home. The Mental Health Technician (MHT) performs direct patient care duties in a residential behavioral health setting. The Mental Health Technician is responsible for supervising the patient in treatment, recreation, educational settings, and other activities of daily living to assess changes in their social behaviors and clinical status. MHT’s have the primary responsibility for ensuring the patient’s safety in the facility. MHT's are responsible for understanding and using the least restrictive interventions per facility policy and successfully avoid seclusion and restraint whenever possible.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (HSD) or GED required.
  • Preferred: Bachelor Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human services or related field.
  • Six months experience in residential psychiatry or comparable position.
  • Must pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre-employment Drug Test.
  • Ability to set and maintain therapeutic distance with clients.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow policies, procedures, and written treatment plans.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Physical agility to manage patients, including pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a childcare facility or agency.
  • Successful completion of CPR Certification.
  • Successful completion of Handle with Care training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct patient care duties in a residential behavioral health setting.
  • Supervise patients in treatment, recreation, educational settings, and other activities of daily living.

  • Ensure patient safety in the facility.

  • Sign-on bonus of $1200.
  • Schedule: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, 40 hours a week with rotating weekends off.
  • Shift Differential offered from 3pm - 7 am.
