About The Position

This posting is for Mental Health Specialist at Orin C. Smith Elementary for the 2025-26 school year. It is a Classified, Non-Represented, hourly position. The position is 6.5 hours per day, 185 days per year, with an anticipated schedule of 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. The 185 days includes the 180 day school year, 4 days before the school year starts, and 1 day after the school year ends. This position is open until filled. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology and/or related field
  • Successful experience working with children and young adults in an elementary school setting.
  • Experience representing the school and working with Child Protective Services
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience
  • CPR and First Aid certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Support student success through school wide tiered support for Social Emotional education and support.
  • Support students and families with mental health needs that impact school success.
  • Team with administration and teachers to provide a healthy environment for all students.
  • Maintain and complete documentation as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies to seek services and provide referrals for at-risk families.
  • Serve as a contact person for your site to coordinate community service projects that support students' basic needs and family support.
  • Participate in school meetings that support MTSS, IEP and 504 teams, and other such teams that strive to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Provide staff with support, education and training in mental health and social emotional learning.
  • Teach social skill groups and conflict resolution.
  • Support family engagement and parent education activities.
