The Sex Offender Treatment Program is for patients who have completed their criminal sentence but have been deemed at high risk to sexually re-offend if outside an inpatient treatment facility. As a Mental Health Specialist - Med Aide, you will assist our multi-disciplinary teams in treatment plans and perform a range of functions to create a therapeutic environment for the care and treatment of sex offenders with mental illnesses and personality disorders committed directly from the prison to the Nebraska Sex Offender program. The Mental Health Specialist - Med Aide will perform blood glucose monitoring on patients with a finger prick. All out of range blood sugars are reported to the nurse assigned to cover that unit. All insulin is given by an LPN or a RN. Medication Aides may give medications by the following routes: oral - sublingual, buccal, mouth spray. Inhalation – inhalers, nebulizers, and oxygen. Topical – sprays, creams, ointments, lotions, and transdermal patches. Installation – drops, ointments, and sprays in eyes, ears, and nose.
