The Recovery Specialist position is located in the Supervised Housing program working with adult clients in a group home setting. Recovery Specialist staff assist adult clients with daily living skills and providing hands on skills teaching for budgeting, meal planning, and meal preparation. However the days and times may vary based on the immediate needs of the site. A level of flexibility is required for this position and also an understanding that a set schedule is not always guaranteed. Their ideal team member would be able to: 1. Work independently while having an open and effective line of communication with the team. 2. Perform or learn to perform de-escalation techniques. 3. Plan outings for clients independently/lead therapeutic group activities. 4. Change their approach to teaching based on the client's personality. 5. Maintain patience to teach a client how to do something instead of for them. 6. Establish a healthy work-life balance 7. Forget any preconceived notions of what mental illness looks like 8. Assist clients with activities of daily living (cooking, cleaning, monitoring medications). 9. Helping clients safely access the community for basic needs and leisure activities.
