About The Position

The Mental Health Program Manager 1 position at the New York State Office of Mental Health is a full-time, permanent role responsible for overseeing and directing the operations and program activities of various community-operated mental health programs. This position plays a critical role in policy development, program planning, and quality assurance within the mental health sector, ensuring effective service delivery and compliance with state regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a human services field, hospital, healthcare, public or business administration, or related field.
• Seven years of clinical, administrative, and/or supervisory experience in a mental health, public health, healthcare, and/or managed care setting.
• Two years of managerial experience in policy development, quality control, or program planning in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the operations of the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services and Care Management.
• Provide leadership and administrative direction to Unit directors and staff.
• Collaborate with the OMH Bureau of Managed Care and Field Offices.
• Coordinate policy and program development related to the public health emergency's effects on community mental health providers.
• Provide program design coordination and development, interpreting policy and providing technical assistance to providers.
• Recommend and implement policies for the Commissioner of the Office of Mental Health.
• Represent OMH in community forums and local governmental units.
• Provide policy and program direction to OMH Central and Field Office staff, and local government staff.
• Engage with the Legislature, other State agencies, counties, consumers, and citizen groups to promote agency programs and resolve issues.
• Present at statewide conferences and participate in national forums.
