About The Position

The Mental Health Professional will be responsible for working collaboratively to provide comprehensive mental health services, including assessment, individual and group therapy, linkages to psychiatric services, and case management.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited school of social work, school counseling, counseling, or related program.
  • Trained as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
  • Trained in the provision of therapy for youth identified with autism.
  • Trained in the provision of therapy for youth with contraindicating diagnoses.
  • Experience providing direct services to students.
  • Experience working collaboratively with school leadership and staff to address students’ mental and behavioral health.
  • Experience with family outreach and engagement.
  • Experience with crisis intervention.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work effectively on a multi-disciplinary school team
  • Ability to communicate clearly with school leadership and staff, as well as students
  • Ability to maintain appropriate confidential records and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Promote early identification and intervention for students experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Perform assessments using universal screening tools to identify students’ strengths, mental health concerns, behavioral issues, and their appropriateness for services.
  • Develop a comprehensive individualized treatment plan that addresses students' holistic needs
  • Provide individual and group therapy.
  • Provide therapy for students identified with autism.
  • Provide therapy for students with contraindicating diagnoses.
  • Connect students with psychiatric services for medication management and/or psychiatric care as necessary.
  • Support school staff in addressing students’ behavioral challenges.
  • Connect students and their families to community resources and supportive services as necessary.
  • Crisis prevention, intervention, and response in partnerships with schools’ crisis response teams.
  • Provide professional development, learning, consultation, and coaching services for licensed and certified mental health staff and school staff, as requested.
  • Work with building administrators, counseling staff, and parents to meet student educational and social-emotional needs.
  • Enhance student academic achievement, attendance, and overall success through mental health interventions using ongoing data collection and progress monitoring.
  • Provide aftercare services for students who have returned to school following treatment.
  • Participate in student meetings.
