About The Position

The Mental Health Professional (MHP) is a vital member of the Crisis Care System team, providing timely, compassionate support to individuals experiencing mental health crises. Operating under the supervision of the Program Director, the MHP delivers mobile crisis intervention, screening, intake, case management, and community resource linkage services. This role promotes recovery, stability, and connection to ongoing care through individualized assessments, collaborative safety planning, and person-centered support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field required.
  • At least one year of experience in mental health, crisis services, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance (including uninsured motorist coverage) required.
  • Must successfully pass all pre-employment background screenings.
  • Crisis Response: Ability to remain calm, make sound decisions, and respond effectively in high-pressure or emotionally intense situations.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening, de-escalation techniques, and clear documentation.
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and belief systems.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate care across multiple service providers and disciplines.
  • Problem Solving: Skilled in identifying problems, analyzing situations, and implementing appropriate interventions quickly.
  • Empathy and Compassion: Demonstrated non-judgmental, person-centered approach with a commitment to trauma-informed care.
  • Organization: Capable of managing multiple tasks, maintaining detailed records, and meeting deadlines consistently.
  • Technology Proficiency: Competent in using electronic health records (EHRs), Microsoft Office Suite, and mobile devices for documentation and communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Lived experience or experience facilitating peer or support groups is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate, on-site support and crisis intervention to individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized crisis response and safety plans.
  • Assist individuals in identifying strengths, recovery goals, and barriers to wellness.
  • Facilitate linkage to community-based services and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Identify high-risk factors and seek consultation from a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) when clinically appropriate.
  • Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain timely and accurate service documentation in accordance with agency standards.
