Requirements

  • Mental Health Practitioners must meet the qualifications in 245I.04 Subdv. 4 (a-d).
  • Holds a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or universityhas at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to adults with mental illness; or is fluent in the non-English language of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the practitioner's clients belong, completes 40 hours of training in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional at least once a week until the requirement of 2,000 hours of supervised experience is met; or has at least 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to adults with mental illness

Responsibilities

  • To provide an atmosphere that will stimulate clients’ development of self-confidence and self-worth.
  • To supervise and be actively involved with clients at all appropriate times, stimulating positive social interaction.
  • Under the supervision of a mental health professional, implement programming and clinical services to recipients of the program and complete all related documentation.
  • To provide supervision, assistance, and training to clients in meeting their medical and healthcare needs.
  • To provide education and assistance to clients in managing their personal funds.
  • To maintain open and honest communication with the Program Director and other staff, promoting the concept of teamwork and support.
  • To know, uphold and support the policies, procedures and philosophy of this facility and organization.
