The position involves providing counseling, therapy, and psychotherapy to clients and families. The role requires the preparation of treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-up care programs. Additionally, the therapist will provide therapeutic crisis intervention for clients with serious disturbance problems or emergency services as required, in alignment with professional practices for behavioral health and primary care integration. The therapist will collect patient data through interviews, case histories, psychological tests, and observational techniques, evaluating this data to identify the causes of problems and determine the proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists. Keeping abreast of patient data is essential to ensure appropriate treatment and care are delivered. The therapist will also consult with other therapists, treatment agencies, and professionals in the performance of therapeutic and casework, refer clients to appropriate service agencies, and inform them of patient rights and responsibilities. Furthermore, the therapist will provide or arrange patient/client therapeutic interventions in crisis conditions and for those with serious disturbance problems. Establishing and maintaining case files, referrals, and other related documents for the treatment of clients is also a key responsibility, along with preparing related documentation for civil commitment hearings or other legal proceedings.
