About The Position

Inova Kellar Center Fairfax is looking for a dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join the team. This role will be PRN, and hours may vary (M-F 8:30-2pm or Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 3:00pm-6:30pm)

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, special education, mental health discipline, or related field.
• Certification: Basic Life Support Within 3 Months Minimum.
• Crisis Prevention Institute.
• CPI in-person training for non-violent crisis intervention, receive CPI blue card within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Engages in activities integral to the continued development and success at our sites of care across Inova Health System.
• Provides assessment, planning, treatment, intervention, and evaluation to patients with psychiatric disorders.
• Provides crisis intervention and behavior management services. Provides daily check-ins and various group counseling interventions.
• Provides day to day documentation and counseling services for the behavioral health patients.
• Oversees individuals receiving services and provides behavioral, non-instructive support and psychoeducational programming to the patient population.
• Maintains medical record documentation in compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and Inova's policies.
