The highly visible incumbent is responsible for implementing the mission and vision of D’Youville University and the Division of Student Affairs while serving as a mental health advisor for the campus and licensed mental health provider for the student population. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who thrives amidst an everchanging and unpredictable work environment and will have demonstrated skills in the areas of mental health, personal counseling, student support, and holistic wellness. This position will support Wellness programmatic efforts with the Project Director for Wellness Education and numerous campus partners to ensure that outreach within The Wellness Lodge aligns with current best practices. Evening and weekend hours may be required when the University is in session to manage workload and attend meetings and functions. The primary focus of the Mental Health Counselor will be to manage immediate student crisis situations, serve as the mental health advisor for the division, refer students to local care resources as needed, and to connect students with the care services provided to them through TimelyMD. This position will have an opportunity to maintain a caseload of student clients if needed but scheduled clinical services are not the focus of this position. This 12-month position reports directly to the Dean of Students and is expected to work closely with all units within Student Affairs to ensure that the University is “student-ready” and that every student has the opportunity to be engaged outside of the classroom.
