The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Department of Psychiatry (Child and Adolescent Division) has a full-time opening within its Prince George's School Mental Health Initiative Program for a Counselor, Senior Counselor, or Lead Counselor dependent upon the chosen candidate's qualifications. The selected candidate for this position is eligible for a sign-on bonus totaling a minimum of $3,000. Half of the bonus is payable within the first 30 days of hire and the remaining half is payable after successful completion of a 12-month probationary period. The sign on bonus is eligible only to candidates new or returning to UMB. The University of Maryland, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, National Center for School Mental Health Counselor position would provide a full continuum of mental health services and consultation to youth with severe behavioral and emotional challenges who are enrolled in Prince George's County Public Schools. The individual would provide a broad range of clinical services including: 1) assessments and evaluation, 2) individual, group, and family therapy, 3) crisis intervention, 4) teacher consultations, and 5) school-wide education and training regarding mental health issues. The primary duty of the position is to provide direct clinical services and school-based consultations, including clinical diagnosis and treatment plans, individual and group therapy, consultation with school staff, and professional development at the school site. The counselor is also responsible for maintaining patient records and completing other required paperwork. The successful candidate must be able to work under the supervision of a licensed professional (Counselor) or independently (Senior Counselor), interface with school staff and other professionals, and provide high quality care in a fast-paced environment.
