About The Position

Join us as a Mental Health Counselor! This is a full-time, 32-hour position with a set schedule including Tuesday, Wednesday 11:00am - 11:30pm, plus every other weekend 3:00pm - 11:30pm, and holiday rotation. As a Mental Health Counselor for TaraVista in Devens, Massachusetts, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. You will provide direct care and support to patients and their families, making decisions that impact their lives. The role involves maintaining a safe therapeutic milieu on inpatient psychiatric units, conducting safety checks, monitoring patients, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), de-escalating acute situations, and providing supportive interactions with patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous PCT/PCA, CNA or Medical Assistant experience required
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship while maintaining professional boundaries

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or human services field preferred
  • Bachelor's degree may be considered in lieu of experience
  • Previous experience in psychiatric or substance inpatient, restraint reduction de-escalation, and crisis intervention is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient observation and rounds
  • Assist staff with patient care while following treatment plans
  • Observe and monitor patient's progress and report observations to staff
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with patients while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living skills, as necessary
  • Provide appropriate supervision of patients' activities
  • Responsible for safety monitoring of patients of the unit
  • Process admissions belongings
  • Complete documentation in the EMR system
  • Facilitate patient groups
  • Work collaboratively with the Interdisciplinary Team
  • Maintain a safe therapeutic milieu on inpatient psychiatric units
  • Conduct safety checks
  • Monitor patients
  • Assist with ADL's
  • De-escalate acute situations
  • Provide supportive interactions with patients
