About The Position

The Mental Health Counselor 2 position at the State of Nevada involves providing comprehensive mental health services, including counseling, case management, and direct clinical services to clients with mental health issues. The role is based in the Mesquite Behavioral Health Center and requires working with a diverse team of mental health professionals to deliver therapy and evaluations in both outpatient and community settings.

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work, or a closely related field.
• Two years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience, or an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.
• Licensure or certification as a Mental Health Counselor, Certified Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor is required at the time of appointment.
• Valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children and families in a mental health setting.
• Knowledge of clinical models for mental health counseling.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family, and group therapy to mental health clients of all ages.
• Conduct screenings and intakes for new clients.
• Perform clinical evaluations and assessments.
• Deliver direct clinical services in outpatient clinics and community settings, including clients' homes.
• Collaborate with a team of clinicians, psychiatric nurses, and other mental health professionals.
