About The Position

The Mental Health Program Coordinator is a middle-management clinical role designed for experienced clinicians seeking a structured pathway into leadership. This position provides both direct clinical services and programmatic oversight, supporting the day-to-day operations of two mental health programs: a clinical mental health treatment program, and a complementary program offering mental health groups, trainings, and psychoeducational services. The coordinator maintains a small individual caseload, facilitates groups and trainings, and provides mentorship, coaching, and workflow support to peers. Serving as a bridge between frontline clinicians and management, this role strengthens clinical quality, staff development, and program consistency while modeling best practices and professional growth for entry-level clinicians.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience providing direct clinical mental health services
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload while balancing additional responsibilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and collaborate with peers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience facilitating groups and delivering trainings
  • Preferred but not required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, or related mental health field
  • Associate registration toward licensure (e.g., AMFT, ACSW, APCC) and actively progressing toward full licensure
  • Prior experience serving in a lead, senior clinician, or informal supervisory role
  • Interest in long-term leadership and management within community mental health
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approaches

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a small caseload providing individual therapy to children, youth, and/or families in alignment with organizational standards and evidence-based practices
  • Facilitate mental health groups and psychoeducational offerings as part of the organization’s group and training programs
  • Deliver independent trainings, workshops, or presentations to staff, partners, or community members as assigned
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Support the implementation and ongoing coordination of two mental health programs, ensuring alignment with program goals and funder requirements
  • Assist with scheduling, service delivery workflows, and coordination across clinicians and program components
  • Identify operational challenges and collaborate with management to propose practical, clinician-informed solutions
  • Provide informal mentorship and clinical coaching to peers, with a focus on workflow optimization, treatment planning, and professional development
  • Model effective time management, clinical organization, and ethical practice
  • Serve as a resource for entry-level clinicians, fostering a culture of learning, confidence, and professional growth
  • Support onboarding and skill development for newer staff as assigned
  • Act as a “manager-in-training,” gradually assuming leadership responsibilities under the guidance of the Program Manager and Director
  • Participate in leadership meetings, planning discussions, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support organizational initiatives that promote staff engagement, clinical excellence, and program sustainability
