About The Position

HumanKind is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen individuals, families, and communities through care, counseling, and education. Our Early Head Start program is federally funded for vulnerable children ages 0-3 and their families. HumanKind EHS is seeking a Mental Health Consultant for no more than 10 hours/monthly, with hourly rates negotiable. This position requires travel and on-site work for both our Lynchburg and Bedford centers. The ideal candidate will have schedule flexibility, clinical licensure, and an Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement through the VAIMH (Virginia Association for Infant Mental Health) or compatible endorsement. As part of monthly contractual hours, the Mental Health Consultant serves the program across three domains: 1. Supporting Infants & Toddlers in the EHS program with mental health, social, and emotional concerns reported by staff or caregivers 2. Providing evidence-based, non-diagnostic EHS classroom strategies for professional teaching staff, on an as-needed basis, to improve child dysregulation, trauma responses, or attachment issues 3. Educating enrolled families and EHS staff on emotional wellness, healthy child and caregiver dyads, mental health risks, and strategic protective factors as part of a strengths-based HumanKind EHS Wellness initiative to support staff and families. Requirements

  • LPC, LCSW, or Candidate under Supervision working toward clinical licensure in the field of child or family mental health
  • Experience with Infant Mental Health and/or Early Childhood Education classrooms
