Johnson County has implemented a skill-based pay plan of up to $4200 annually for staff who have obtained licensure by the BSRB at the Clinical Level. Johnson County Mental Health Center (JCMHC) is seeking qualified candidates to join our team as a Mental Health Co-Responders (Licensed Crisis Clinician). These positions are part of JCMHC’s Emergency Services Division and officed out of police departments. The Co-Responder role is ideal for clinicians who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy resolving crises in the field, and want to strengthen the collaboration between law enforcement and behavioral health. The program’s goals include reducing unnecessary emergency room visits, preventing avoidable arrests, and decreasing repeat behavioral health calls to police by connecting individuals to appropriate services. The Co-Responder will respond in real-time to behavioral health-related 911 calls alongside law enforcement, provide crisis intervention in various community settings, and conduct follow-up outreach to ensure stabilization and connection to care. All in-person contacts are completed with a law enforcement officer. A county vehicle and cell phone are provided for this role.
