About The Position

Contracted position: 10-18 hours per week, depending on student need. The Mental Health Clinician works directly within our alternate day placement program for students who demonstrate challenging behaviors. The clinician provides direct and indirect trauma-informed support to students, families, and staff to improve social-emotional well-being, behavior, and academic performance. This role focuses on removing barriers to learning through individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, SEL lessons, family support, and coordination of services within and outside of the school system. Candidates must hold an active Indiana license as an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor).

Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling.
• Valid Indiana licensure as an LCSW or LMHC.
• Strong understanding of child development, trauma, and behavioral interventions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred, minimum of 1-3 years of experience working with children or adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counseling to students addressing behavioral, emotional, and social concerns.
• Collaborate with teachers, behavior staff, and administrators to support student success.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with families.
• Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies or traumatic events.
• Facilitate communication between the home and school to promote family engagement.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and district guidelines.
• Educate staff on mental health, trauma-informed care, and student wellness topics.
• Assist in creating a safe and inclusive school environment for all students.
• Complete Medicaid billing requirements.
