This position has primary responsibility for mental health services and case management services to adolescents and their families. The Mental Health Specialist (MHS) provides mental health services (including assessment and evaluation) and other services to clients referred to the TEAMMATES programs. Provides therapeutic services, including but not limited to individual and family therapy, collaterals, crisis intervention skill building, and treatment planning. The Mental Health Specialist is an active contributor in multidisciplinary teams and will assist various team members as needed to provide services to families or assist with case management or developing plans for the family. He/she acts as a liaison with external agencies and functions on teams with other clinical & non-clinical staff. The Mental Health Specialist will attend various client and family meetings, such as Child & Family Team (CFT) meetings, psychoeducation groups, plan development meetings, as well as various external and community meetings. May be requested to obtain additional training and certifications as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mental Health, Human Services, or a closely related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in the mental health field, and direct service experience with severely emotionally disturbed children, adolescents, adults, and families; experience with high-risk populations.
  • Experience with children, adolescents, and adults with dual diagnosis in residential or outpatient settings.
  • MHS II: Registered with CA BBS as an AMFT, ACSW, or APCC.
  • MHS III: Licensed in California as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC.
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Spanish Speaking Required
