About The Position

Under supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health Services, the Mental Health Clinician provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered therapeutic services to individuals, families, and/or groups served by the agency. This position supports the mission of the non-profit by delivering high-quality behavioral health care, advocating for clients, and collaborating with community partners to promote emotional well-being and stability.

Requirements

  • Must possess strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-based modalities.
  • Must be able to handle a high volume of documentation and task completion in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to drive in a personal vehicle for program related purposes.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with management, staff, and program participants.
  • Maintain acceptable work habits such as attendance, punctuality, time management, teamwork, etc.
  • Understand and work effectively with diverse cultural and ethnic groups.
  • Must complete and pass criminal and fingerprint background checks.

  • A Master's degree in psychology or related field.
  • Active/Eligible state licensure (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, LMSW, AMFT, APC) depending on state requirements.
  • 1-3 years of experience providing mental health services in clinical, community, or non-profit settings.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Up to date automobile insurance
  • Successful completion of Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
  • Successful completion of Workplace Violence Prevention Training
  • Successful completion of HIPPA Training
  • Successful completion of Mandated Reporter Training
  • Successful completion of Cultural Competency Training

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to El Concilio California policies and procedures per the agency employee manual.
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy using evidence-based practices.
  • Develop, monitor, and update treatment plans that reflect client goals and clinical needs.
  • Maintain an active caseload with services delivered on-site, in community settings, or via telehealth (if applicable).
  • Respond to crises and provide risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency policy, funding requirements, and legal/ethical standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and state regulations.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and utilization reviews.
  • Coordinate care with internal staff, external providers, schools, hospitals, and social service agencies.
  • Attend multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and clinical supervision.
  • Provide advocacy and link clients to community resources and support.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and uphold client confidentiality at all times.
  • Required to work El Concilio California special events and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and administration.
