Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II for the Outpatient New Brunswick Department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. Provides culturally competent outpatient mental health services that meet the needs of the designated adult population. Participates in the assessment of clinical needs and provides skill acquisition and symptom management using evidence based individual, group, and family therapy for mental health and co-occurring chemical abuse/dependency. Assists in the provision of clinical supervision and coordination facilitates clinical team meetings, assist with Performance Improvement Projects, and sits on UBHC committees. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Demonstrates knowledge of University Behavioral Health Care’s vision, mission and values as they relate to service provision, daily activities, decisions and quality improvement priorities and consistently behaves in accordance with established policies and procedures as observed by supervisor. Provides assessments and ongoing therapeutic services with flexibility, empathy and concern for individuals served based on sound clinical judgment as indicated by supervisory observation and feedback from individuals served, families and fellow team members. Completes clinically appropriate admission paperwork, assessments and evaluations, treatment and/or recovery plans, progress notes, transfer and termination/discharge summaries and instructions consistent with UBHC policy and program standards as indicated by periodic record review and supervisory observation. Takes a lead role in providing orientation, training, team leadership in the department. Participates meaningfully in supervision/consultation as demonstrated by integration of supervisory material in clinical practice as observed by supervisor. Actively participates in program development within the department, as observed by supervisor. Overview Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care ( UBHC ), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC’s 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC , one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.
