About The Position

This position is located at Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Virginia. Provide evidence-based, state of the art sex offender programming to adult sex offenders, including treatment, assessment, and re-entry / release planning services. Makes recommendations to the Sex Offender Residential Treatment (SORT) Program Director regarding program changes that are researched-based and have demonstrated effectiveness. Ensures that documentation and records are maintained according to DOC and ACA standards. Serves as a consultant and liaison to Administration, Security, Treatment, and Community Corrections staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Social Work, or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in mental health supporting the ability to fulfill the required tasks of a Mental Health Service Provider as mandated by the Code of Virginia.
  • Eligible to complete certification as a Sex Offender Treatment Provider by the Virginia Board of Psychology.
  • Knowledge of psychological theory and practices on various mental disorders, sexual disorders, and contemporary assessment and treatment approaches.
  • Knowledge of salient areas related to effective sex offender treatment modalities.
  • Ability to develop appropriate treatment plans and provide group and individual counseling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the purpose, strengths, and limitation of various psychological and sex offender specific assessment instruments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to discuss and explain psychological/diagnostic impressions and issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to fulfill professional tasks of a Mental Health Service Provider as mandated by the Code of Virginia.
  • Experience working clinically with sexual offenders, performing sex offender assessment and interpretation, psychological testing, evaluation, and counseling.
