About The Position

The position provides mental health and substance use services either in person or via telehealth. Responsibilities include conducting emergency psychiatric and substance use assessments, diagnosing using DSM-5/ICD10 codes, and providing crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and social work interventions. The role involves evaluating safety, patient engagement, and the effectiveness of support systems. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is essential to determine and communicate disposition and level of care, including voluntary and involuntary commitments. The position assists with diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations, and risk mitigation, while advising patients, families, and providers to enhance care continuity. Participation in hospital and community mental health initiatives is expected, along with conducting biopsychosocial assessments and developing individualized treatment plans with patient-specific goals. The role also includes facilitating group therapy, creating safety plans, and ensuring appropriate interventions. Tracking and managing involuntary commitments, including case tracking and representing the hospital in hearings, is part of the job. Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant behavioral health, medical, and legal issues impacting hospital patients is crucial. Documentation of assessments, dispositions, interactions, and conversations must adhere to department guidelines and standards. Charge capture is necessary to ensure financial stability. The position may involve providing clinical supervision to master's level student interns and department trainees as needed. The candidate must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently, demonstrating flexibility in accepting diverse work assignments, managing stress related to change, and resolving conflicts effectively.

Requirements

  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist required.
  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Social Work required.
  • 2 years of clinical experience in mental health or clinical substance abuse/addiction required.
