About The Position

The Mental Health Clinician at the Institute for Family Health provides comprehensive clinical mental health services to patients and families of all ages. This role involves diagnostic assessments, counseling, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and collaboration with healthcare teams to address the social and emotional factors affecting patients' health. The clinician will utilize independent judgment in delivering care and will report to the Regional Director and/or Program Director.

Requirements

  • Bilingual language skills (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Master's degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an accredited university.
  • NYS licensure as LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or PhD/PsyD.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Willingness to supervise interns and attend required supervisor courses.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations such as HIV, homeless, mentally ill, elderly, children, and adolescents.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.

  • Fluent in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling, crisis intervention, and concrete services.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and healthcare personnel in patient evaluation and treatment.
  • Prepare comprehensive bio-psychosocial evaluations, mental status exams, patient histories, treatment plans, and reports.
  • Conduct short and long-term therapy with appropriate treatment plans, goals, and objectives.
  • Supervise social work student interns as needed.
  • Educate staff regarding psychosocial issues related to patient care.
  • Identify child welfare issues and coordinate with the Child Protective coordinator for reporting procedures.
  • Document all patient services in medical records and complete encounter forms for all patient visits.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and professional standards, including Article 28 and JCAHO.
  • Participate in social service quality assurance programs and required staff meetings.
