About The Position

The CFAC is dedicated to supporting and empowering children and families affected by abuse, neglect, and domestic violence. Our organization provides comprehensive services, including advocacy, counseling, and residential support. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Associate to join our team and contribute to our mission of providing high-quality mental health care and support to those we serve. The Mental Health Associate will support the mental health needs of children and families by providing direct services under supervision, assisting with the administrative needs of the mental health component, and contributing to the overall mental health program. This role involves working closely with clients to deliver effective support, facilitate therapeutic activities, and assist with case management. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a counseling career/licensure, strong communication skills, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field - working towards a master's is preferred. Relevant certifications or coursework in mental health is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a mental health or counseling role, preferably in a nonprofit or child and family services setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, therapeutic techniques, and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to the mission of the organization and a passion for supporting children and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Client Support: Provide direct support to clients, including individual and group counseling sessions, under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals. Assist clients in setting and achieving therapeutic goals.
  • Assessment & Intervention: Conduct initial assessments of clients' mental health needs and contribute to the development of individualized treatment plans. Implement therapeutic interventions and activities as outlined in treatment plans.
  • Case Management: Assist with case management tasks, including coordinating services, monitoring client progress, and maintaining detailed case notes. Collaborate with other service providers to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and support as needed, including de-escalating situations and ensuring client safety. Follow established protocols for managing and reporting crises.
  • Family Support: Work with families to provide education, support, and resources related to mental health and wellness. Facilitate family counseling sessions and support family involvement in the treatment process.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client interactions, treatment progress, and case notes. Prepare reports as required for internal use and regulatory compliance.
  • Program Support: Contribute to the development and implementation of mental health programs and activities. Assist in evaluating program effectiveness and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members, including counselors, social workers, and advocacy staff, to ensure a holistic approach to client care. Participate in team meetings and case consultations.
  • Community Outreach: Assist with community outreach efforts to raise awareness about mental health services and resources available through the organization. Represent the organization at community events and activities as needed.
