About The Position

Mental Health Associate - Outpatient: Under the direction of supervising staff, the Mental Health Associate (MHA) will assist persons receiving outpatient services in adhering to treatment, maintaining follow-up appointments, scheduling, and keeping appointments with other community providers. MHA will provide education regarding community supports and participate in referral/linkage of individuals to appropriate community supports and services when indicated. MHA may provide therapeutic interventions with clients, such as group therapy, one-on-one counseling, or crisis intervention. MHA utilizes education to assist clients to learn new coping skills, identify issues that cause conflict in relationships and develop strategies for resolving conflicts. MHA will assist individuals with problem-solving and identifying potential barriers that may impact progress towards recovery. MHA may provide supportive counseling sessions and/or educational/skill-based sessions to clients individually or in a group format. Provides emotional support to clients during difficult times by listening to their concerns, empathizing with their feelings, and helping them find solutions to their problems. Monitors client’s progress throughout treatment to ensure that they are compliant with their plans and provides pertinent team meeting information. MHA participates in treatment planning and review, tracking data, and completing all required documentation within expected guidelines. MHA may perform duties in the community, including in an individual’s home, as needed per specific program expectations and standards. Performs all duties within the guidelines of licensing and regulatory agencies, accrediting agencies, and hospital standards and protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Health Science or related health field from an accredited institution required.
  • 1-2 years prior mental health experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology preferred.
  • BVP within 6 months of hire.
  • Program specific: a. Valid Driver’s license
