About The Position

The Mental Health Associate II position at Highland Park Hospital is a part-time role requiring 16 hours per week, primarily during the evening shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with rotating weekends and some holidays. The associate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, partnering with an accountable nurse to provide care to assigned patients throughout their hospital stay. This role involves collaborating with professional nurses and other team members to deliver holistic, individualized patient care and manage the therapeutic environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or an Associate’s degree with three years of inpatient psychiatric experience.
• Certification in CPR.
• Experience in human services such as inpatient psychiatry or direct patient care preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of psychiatric terminology and theory.
• Empathy towards patients.

Responsibilities

• Act as a partner with an accountable nurse to serve as either a primary or associate caregiver to assigned patients.
• Collaborate with the professional nurse and multi-disciplinary team members to provide holistic, individualized patient care.
• Manage therapeutic milieu for patients during their hospital stay.
