This role offers a truly enriching experience focusing on your professional development. Occasional part-time (up to 28 hours per week) Mental Health Assistants will support consumers with substance use needs on their recovery journeys. Many consumers will also have co-occurring mental health needs. Mental health assistants work in innovative after-hours Substance Abuse Engagement Center to provide education, promote recovery, and access community resources. In a comfortable home-like setting, mental health assistants help people to consider options for their personal recovery planning. Mental health assistants also lead groups and work side by side with people to obtain housing, employment, medical care, recovery supports, transportation, recreation, financial benefits, and other available entitlements. Mental health assistants must be able to work second or third shifts on weekdays and any shift on weekends. Mental Health Assistants work under the supervision of the Mental Health Program Director and Program Coordinator.
