About The Position

The Mental Health and Wellness Educator at DePauw University will provide mental health and wellness education services primarily at Butler University. This role focuses on outreach programming, increasing awareness of mental health initiatives, supervising peer education programs, and collaborating with campus partners to enhance mental health education efforts. The educator will also consult with other mental health professionals within the MINDful College Connections consortium to implement best practices and support the diverse needs of the student body.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, Public Health, Student Development, Higher Education Student Affairs, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or Clinical Psychology.
  • Experience working in an educational environment is required; experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Experience working with peer educators or as a peer educator is preferred.
  • Intermediate communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking before groups.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred.
  • Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBCHWC, WellCoaches, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate holistic mental health and wellness education and programming for the campus community.
  • Expand awareness of mental health and wellness initiatives through educational branding and marketing.
  • Provide consultation services to students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health topics and referrals to resources.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with campus partners to strengthen mental health education efforts.
  • Respond to programming requests from student groups and faculty/staff.
  • Oversee the counseling center's social media accounts for communication with students.
  • Supervise the peer education mental health program, including recruiting and training Peer Educators.
  • Serve as an advisor to student groups as needed.
  • Manage funding for mental health outreach initiatives and training.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and serve on committees as needed.
