The position entails serving as the main point of contact for staff regarding scheduling concerns, overseeing the shift schedule, including managing staff time off, handling unexpected absences, addressing lateness, and coordinating alternate staff to ensure adequate shift coverage. Additionally, monitoring and evaluating staff performance, handling conflicts following program guidelines, and responding to client and shelter emergencies in a timely manner are essential duties. Maintaining a clean and safe environment, updating the Nightly Shelter Log, and facilitating communication with other shift supervisors and the Program Manager are also key responsibilities. Finally, this role involves serving as a professional role model for both staff and participants in the program.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D. with three (3) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience working with a specific population is preferred.
  • Valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License and N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities, including those that may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
