Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Processes for providing customer service and care to residents.
  • Safety rules and procedures, the organization’s policies and procedures, crisis interventions and de-escalation techniques for individuals who may be frustrated or exalted, and basic math.
  • Abilities: Multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate information clearly, read, write, speak, and understand.
  • Make independent decisions when situations warrant.
  • Recognize unusual or threatening conditions related to persons with disabilities.
  • Drive residents to appointments.
  • Standing, bending, stooping, sitting, walking, reaching above and below shoulder, repetitive use of hands to operate office equipment.
  • Operate basic household appliances.
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrated competencies working with substance abuse and chemically dependent populations.
  • Experience in working with Microsoft Office products, including email.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License, acceptable automobile insurance coverage, and driving record.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) Certification and/or Certified Peer Recovery Supporter, preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with chemically dependent clients in various settings, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure housing residents are receiving the necessary care.
  • Demonstrate patience and tact when dealing with difficult situations and problematic residents.
  • Exchange tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
  • Relay information about residents’ condition to the appropriate staff/department.
  • Report pertinent information to management.
  • When working third shift, perform evening safety checks, lock-up of facility, and complete the nightly safety check-off list.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Provide crisis interventions and de-escalation techniques.
  • Establish and maintain clear boundaries with residents.
  • Enforce the residential rules to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
  • Wash clothes, dishes, and perform general cleaning duties.
  • Transport residents, as needed.
  • Facilitate psychoeducation groups and submit timely documentation (credentialed staff only)
  • Adhere to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures, including compliance with all behavioral, ethical, and client boundary expectations.
  • Maintain client records according to the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining the organization, Ohio MHAS, and CARF required training.
  • Maintain license or registration appropriate to profession and appropriate to job requirement, including appropriate amount of continuing education at all times of employment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
