The Memory Care Program Coordinator at Brookdale Mount Vernon is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating a calendar of person-centered dementia-friendly programs that cater to the specific needs of residents within the dementia care community. This role emphasizes enhancing the quality of life for residents through meaningful and purposeful programming, recognizing individual abilities and preferences, and ensuring that care and programming honor residents' historical routines and interests. The position involves collaboration with community leadership, families, and associates to provide education and resources regarding Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, as well as compliance with Brookdale's standards and regulations.

  • Design a 7-day a week person-centered program that is engaging and meets the needs and interests of individual residents.
  • Develop a monthly calendar based on residents' shared interests and ensure special events and daily programs are executed as scheduled.
  • Ensure dementia care programs comply with Brookdale Excellence Standards Tool (BEST) and other regulations.
  • Collaborate with community leadership to educate families and associates about dementia care.
  • Provide direct supervision of Clare Bridge Program Assistant/s as required.
  • Plan and participate in special events and educational programs.
  • Report changes in residents' health to clinical partners and collaborate on interventions.
  • Oversee social media content to align with Brookdale's culture and standards.
  • Plan and schedule programming events outside the community.
  • Maintain department budget and manage volunteer programs.
  • Perform personal care, housekeeping, and dietary responsibilities as needed.
  • Bachelor's Degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of direct programming experience with older adults and persons with dementia preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a current 3-year driving abstract with no more than one moving violation.
  • Experience in a dementia care setting.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and dementia care best practices.
