About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Membership Service Representative at the Regional YMCA of Western CT intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. Responsible for any related duties, including, but not limited to, all functional procedures associated with operating the Front Desk, and accurate monitoring and control of cash receipts and reports during a shift. On duty, the membership representative must create a professional, efficient and enthusiastic setting at the Y, which encourages new member growth and current member retention. Requirements

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Complete our New Employee Orientation including, Child Abuse Prevention, Blood-borne Pathogens and Sexual Harassment Training
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in customer service preferred.
  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes all members, program participants, and guests to the Y.
  • Collect and monitor all membership cards for accuracy and validity.
  • Review all membership and program registration forms for accuracy during registration.
  • Ensures all membership forms are fully completed completely and all additional documents are copied and attached.
  • Provide new/potential members a tour of our facility and accurate information on policies, schedules, procedures, etc.
  • Ensure that only paid members, guests, Nationwide members, and program participants access the facility.
  • Answer multi-line telephones, handle routine inquires and relay message to the proper personnel.
  • Maintain proper Front Desk support systems for all professional staff to encourage communication among departments.
  • Ensure that no one loiters behind/around the Front Desk.
  • Responsible to maintain a professional, efficient and positive presentation at the Front Desk.
  • Read, understand, and initial communication memos daily.
  • Responsible for membership sign-up and program registration to include computer generated receipts.
  • Provide appropriate membership and program cards upon registration.
  • Checks daily shift receipts and shift close-outs reports for accuracy and deposits in locked office safe at the end of shift.
  • Relays daily information to next shift person.
  • Routes incoming mail to proper personnel.
  • Any other duties related to this position.
  • Reviews Emergency Procedures on a regular basis and reacts appropriately to conflict.
  • Maintains professional, personable appearance of our organization.
  • Communicate any issues with members or guests to The Member Engagement Director or Director on Duty.
  • Maintains the schedules binder with all relevant information for various departments.
