About the position

Reporting to the Senior Director of Membership & Community, the Membership Manager will oversee membership operations in alignment with ASQ's global membership strategy. This role will primarily focus on driving member acquisition, retention, and satisfaction, ensuring a seamless and high-quality member experience that fosters positive retention rates. The Membership Manager will also manage a team of 1-3 direct reports, providing guidance and support to ensure their team's success in meeting organizational and membership goals. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a membership organization, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build strong, meaningful relationships with members, volunteers, and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing a team of 1-3 direct reports.
  • Manages the membership retention initiatives, including renewals, on-boarding, and engagement.
  • Partners with marketing team to develop and implement effective marketing strategies to increase membership.
  • Oversees, communicates, and markets membership benefits and opportunities, including the Career Center and the Awards & Medals program, to enhance member engagement and value.
  • Manages the member lifecycle stages including assessing and researching member needs, identifying and evaluating ASQ member opportunities, and suggesting new member models and benefits.
  • Manages the standard operating procedures (SOP's) for all membership renewal and administration functions.
  • Drives member engagement before, during, and after events-both virtual and in person-through strategic communication, marketing, and outreach efforts.
  • Participates in the administration of the New Member Orientation process and 12-month onboarding campaign.
  • Proactively collaborates with other workgroups to understand opportunities and create value propositions supporting member acquisition and retention.
  • Oversees the maintenance of and is accountable for the accuracy of the membership database, including data analysis of member patterns, tenure, and activities.
  • Responsible for administering and enforcing membership objectives, policies, or standards.
  • Partners with Customer Care to develop scripts and procedures to support customer care in fielding in-bound member inquiries and ensuring a positive member experience.
  • Adheres to ASQ Competencies: Trust, Accountability, Collaboration and Transparency.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in an individual membership non-profit, or other membership-based organization that was focused on fostering a sense of community and engagement.
  • A Minimum of 2 years of experience working with an Association Management System (AMS).
  • Minimum of 1 year of people management experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination.
  • Must be able to comply with attendance and timeliness policies.
