GENERAL SUMMARY Follows detailed and standardized procedures in maintaining accurate collections records. Performs a variety of collections duties related to the collection function in accordance with Educational Systems Federal Credit Union policies and procedures and are in compliance with all Federal, State, NCUA and other regulatory agencies rules and regulations. Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from both internal and external members. Processes requests/transactions, as appropriate. Assists members and potential members in understanding and utilizing Educational Systems Federal Credit Union products and services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in loan servicing or collections in a financial institution is required.
  • Ability to function independently exercising sound judgment on basic collection principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical skills required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to function in a financial institution environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: 10 key calculator, fax, copier, telephone, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Delinquency and Collection. Contacts delinquent members and co-signers by phone, mail or email to determine reasons for delinquency and assist them in developing plans to bring account (s) to current status. Contacts members with over limit visas by phone, email or mail to collect on over limit amount. Updates and logs activity on accounts through the Temenos system. Place Repo Locks in Keystone on all loans 32+ days past due. Requests credit bureau reports and skip trace. Completes required forms for submission for approval of loan extensions and modifications. Process mail.
  • Policies and Procedures. Keeps current on policies, procedures and changes pertaining to the Member Solutions Center using the Internet/Intranet and other training and information tools available. Follows established procedures to safeguard the collection computer systems.
  • Duties. Adheres to safety and security programs designed to minimize loss relating to fraud and robbery. Maintains and demonstrates practical knowledge of branch and/or facility security procedures to ensure the safety and soundness of the credit union. Adheres to all compliance standards set forth by Federal and State laws including, but not limited to: BSA, Money Laundering, Regulation CC and privacy of member information. Completes annual training, where applicable, to remain current with regulations and compliance procedures. Ability to sit for long periods of time and use a computer for prolonged periods of time. Performs other related duties as assigned.
