About The Position

The Member Services Specialist is responsible for knowing eligibility requirements for programs available to pay for services or otherwise benefit ODCHC patients. The Member Services Specialist assists patients/members with the application, enrollment, and redetermination process for all available programs. The Member Services Specialist collaborates with front office, medical support, and health outreach staff to identify ODCHC patients for program enrollment and other assistance as appropriate, as well as coordinates with other community agencies as applicable to conduct eligibility and enrollment related community outreach. Requirements

  • Ability to identify and differentiate needs of patients/members and provide assistance and stimulate interest in accessing healthcare coverage and other program opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish constructive professional working relationships among a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and independently as needed.
  • Ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively represent ODCHC’s interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among co-workers, public, private, and professional groups.
  • Strong computer skills with specific aptitude in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Adheres to ODCHC’s policies and procedures.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and assists patients/members with program enrollment process, including patient/member education on available programs, eligibility and related requirements.
  • Coordinates with ODCHC staff, community partners, and others as appropriate to identify patients/members for program enrollment.
  • Refers patients/members to other inter-agency departments or community health/ social services as needed.
  • Attends meetings/trainings and reviews literature to maintain a current knowledge of programs and services available and pertinent regulations and eligibility requirements.
  • Coordinates with agency staff for publicity and outreach initiatives for availability of programs to patients and the community.
  • Proposes program initiatives for increased program enrollment.
  • Coordinates with other community agencies as appropriate for increased enrollment program capacity.
  • Tracks enrollment and program data.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
