About The Position

The Member Service Assistant is responsible for establishing new memberships and enhancing existing member relationships through sales and referrals. This role focuses on understanding members' financial needs and tailoring credit products accordingly, while ensuring compliance with credit union policies and procedures. The position emphasizes excellent member service, sales performance, and adherence to regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of experience in assessing and meeting member needs, with six months of financial/banking/CU experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with members and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a financial institution or credit union environment.
  • Familiarity with credit products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Establish new memberships and enhance existing member account relationships through sales and referrals.
  • Deliver excellent member service and exceed credit union service standards.
  • Open and close accounts, service members, and process transactions such as stop payments and wire transfers.
  • Cross-sell and up-sell credit union products and services to meet members' financial needs.
  • Maintain accurate data entry regarding member records and transactions, correcting errors as needed.
  • Adhere to security, internal control procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide support to the Receptionist area as needed and service safe deposit boxes if applicable.
