About the team and the role: eBay, Inc. seeks Member of Technical Staff in New York, NY What you will accomplish: Job Duties: Work with Search and Merchandising team to get better shipping signals onto Search index and merchandise carousals at eBay by providing them an index of items arriving in the next 4 days. Design, develop and maintain Shipping Delivery Estimates Service that estimates delivery dates for different markets and countries that meet the market needs with respect to functionality, reliability, performance, and scalability. Design, Develop and maintain testing framework for the Shipping Index feature for constant feedback loop about its performance and accuracy. Provide knowledge transfers by meeting with other stakeholders about the designs of the new products launched by Shipping Delivery Estimates team, and also guide junior developers with software engineering guidelines to make sure they adhere to the business and company standards. Work closely with the data science team to enable them to roll out new machine learning models based on historic data. Work closely with the shipping services team to incorporate and test new delivery services that are added to eBay from time to time. Track business impacts on features and machine learning models rolled out on a regular basis and have constant discussions with the business team to tweak them. Provide code reviews and valuable feedback to peers to develop good quality services and have open discussions about coding practices. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Experience in object-oriented design and development using design patterns, UML, and programming in languages such as Java or similar.
Spring and Spring Boot frameworks, web services, microservices, Docker, REST or SOAP APIs, Kubernetes
Knowledge of process scheduling, coordination, and concurrency concepts in operating systems.
Knowledge of machine learning methods such as classification, prediction, and clustering, and familiarity with related tools and frameworks.
Non-functional skills like Security, Load and Performance Tests
Experience collecting feedback and metrics to refine the developer experience continually.
Experience with automation of software engineering processes and infrastructure, including designing and implementing DevOps pipelines using industry-standard tools.
Experience with relational and NoSQL database systems, including design, query optimization, transaction processing, and distributed databases.
Experience applying software engineering practices in large development projects, including use of version control, testing frameworks, project tracking tools.
Experience in use of web technologies such as Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React and Angular
